Martin "The Bow-Tie Killer" Beck is the criminal in Cold River who wears a bowtie. He was portrayed by Michael Richards and only appeared in the first Problem Child film. Junior admired him and wore a bow tie so he could be like Martin. He thought Junior was another criminal when he got letters from him. He kidnapped him and Flo Healy.
Other than having been incarcerated at least twice, there is nothing known about Martin. He dislikes Junior, the Healys and circuses (including clowns) but also likes smiley pies and the meatloaf that the Healys made during his first encounter with Junior, who pretended that Martin was his "Uncle Marty". At two separate points, Martin claimed he had not dated a woman nor had a smiley pie in 15 years, implying that he had been in jail for at least a decade.
It has also been implied or assumed that Martin was a serial killer, which might explain the "Bow-Tie Killer" nickname, and right before his second arrest, he shot Ben Healy although the latter survived, thanks to the petrified prune in his chest pocket, which he had given to Junior earlier.
As the result of his numerous crimes – including escaping prison, impersonating a citizen, stealing cars, attempting to rob a convenience store (where he ate a Smiley Pie without even paying for it), kidnapping Flo and Junior, assault (as he punched a clown in the face), attempted murder and shooting Ben – Martin was once again incarcerated and was never seen again in the sequels.
